Guide to Cleaning your Barbecues and Grills

After having loads of fun in BBQ parties thrown in your backyard, the tough task of cleaning your barbecues and grills awaits and it can make you groan on the inside. There have been debates on whether barbecue grills should be cleaned or not. If you’re one of the people who think that they should definitely be cleaned, you should know how to do the job properly to get the most of it for many years.

Tips on cleaning your barbecues and grills

When you attempt to clean your BBQ grill, there are few tips that can help make it easier for you. Here are a few suggestions to guide you through your task of cleaning barbecues and grills:

Step #1: Before you start with the scrubbing part of cleaning, make sure that the entire residue on the grill is scarped out. This should always be the first thing that should be done to make the later stage of the cleaning process easier.

Step #2: If your grill has a Clean Burn setting feature, use it or put the grill on the highest heat level to burn off all the fats and other residue that are stuck on it. Make sure that everything is burnt and melted properly.

Step #3: While your grill and barbecue plate is still piping hot, sprinkle some salt on it and leave it to cool. Once everything is cool, take a brush and clean.

Step #4: Now, make a paste with water and bicarbonate soda and use a wire brush to scrub the hotplate and grill. Wipe them clean and then dry them with a clean towel. You can leave it to air dry as well.

Step #5: Once your barbecues and grills are clean, get some canola oil and apply a coat of it to the hotplate and grill to prevent them from getting rusted.

Points to remember

You should always make sure to go through the instruction manual that came with your barbecue. This will prevent you from making mistakes and ruining it. The manual will come with a list of the best cleaning products to use. Last but not least, try the cleaning technique given above on a small area of the grill to make sure that it is a suitable cleaning method.

Cleaning barbecues and grills is not a tough task at all. If you maintain the habit of cleaning after every use, you avoid the need for heavy-duty cleaning in the future.
